CAS Mix Up Challenge

Hello friends.  This is my 2nd post today, scroll down for my card for The Paper Players.

This card is for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Gesso with Stencils

I was inspired by this card of Bonnie's and also watched the video she indicated she watched.  I love the soft background she did so mine is similar.

I used Tim Holtz Roses Layering Stencil with Gesso.  Some of the image is not as distinctive as others but it is still pretty to me.  After the gesso dried, I blended Speckled Egg, Squeezed Lemonade and Kitsch Flamingo DOI over the panel.  I die cut it with a stitched rectangle die and adhered it to the card base.  I stamped the sentiment from SU Peaceful Moments in the bottom right corner.  I stamped the butterfly from SU Butterfly Brilliance in SU Smokey Slate ink and colored it with Copics to give it a soft look, die cut it with the matching die, and glued it down just in the center.  I tried stamping it in black and coloring it the same way, but it was too stark on the soft background.  I enjoyed this technique and will have to try it again..

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday in Emboss Resist Technique

Hello friends.  I have a new card to share today.  I made this one with a new technique I tried for the first time, emboss resist for the CAS Mix Up challenge.

I have used wet embossing, stamping, die cutting and sponging.

I used the Altenew Grid Stencil and stamped my Versamark ink pad over the center part and then embossed with white embossing powder.  I sponged Speckled Egg DOI over part of the embossing for a background for the lovely flower spray from Taylored Expressions Bursting Blooms.  I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with SU Calypso Coral and Granny Apple Green Blends.  I cut it with the matching dies and snipped the top section off so it would fit on my card.  I embossed the sentiment from a retired SU set and cut it into a banner shape.  The blooms and the sentiment are mounted with foam tape.

I will also link to MYNBUS challenge as this is the first time I have used the Grid Stencil and the Bursting Blooms stamp and die set.

Another Faux Cloisone Card

Hello friends.  I had so much fun making my first faux cloisone card that I made another one using the same magazine as before.  I used stamping, dry and heat embossing, and die cutting. I am linking to CAS Mix Up Challenge.

I embossed the flowers from SU Friendly Hello on a picture of a sandwich with some kind of berry jelly on it.  I thought it would make lovely flowers.  I embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, glued it on scratch card for stability, and then fussy cut the image.  I embossed a white panel with SU Subtle EF and then die cut a circle from it.  I added a smaller die cut circle with black card to make a frame.  I glued this panel on the card base after stamping leaves from Friendly Hello in Blackberry Bliss to match the flowers; and the sentiment from SU Many Mates.  I am pleased with the final card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up Challenge - Faux Cloisonne

Hello friends. This is my second post today as I finished my card for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Faux Cloisonne

I used stamping, heat embossing and die cutting for this challenge.  I found this picture of a  casserole in my food magazine and thought it would be perfect for this butterfly image as it had yellow, orange, and rust colors in it.  I stamped it in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Extra Fine Gold embossing powder. I then glued it on a scrap piece of cardstock before die-cutting it with the matching die - it is from SU Brilliant Butterflies Bundle.  I also die cut Hello from Memory Box Hello Friends Posh Script from the same piece of picture.  I mounted the butterfly on a piece die cut from Altenew Burlap Texture Die which was glued to the card base.  I then glued Hello below the die cuts.

This photo shows the shine of the butterfly better although it is not as clear.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up - Loose Watercoloring

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card to share today.  I made this card using the loose watercoloring challenge at CAS Mix Up Card Challenge.

I watched several of the linked videos on loose watercoloring before making my card.  I stamped the flower and leaves from Reverse Confetti Peony stamp set in Versamark ink on watercolor paper and embossed them with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I then brushed the images with water and applied Gansai Tambi watercolors in a rose red and green.   It was fun to watch the watercolors spread over the stamped images.  I did it loosely so some colors got outside of the embossed edges,  I then die cut them with the matching dies.  I mounted the flower with foam tape to the card front and glued the leaves under the edges.  I then stamped the sentiment from Just Rite Large Fancy Sentiments.  It really is a CAS card - I have a hard time not using layers and embossing, but I like the final result.  I will definitely be doing more of the loose watercoloring technique.

I will also link to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge - I used the center row down (birthday, CAS, sparkle).  The gold embossing sparkles.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hello

Hi friends.  I have a card for a friend that I made with the theme from CAS Mix-Up - Stamping Through Stencil.

I was inspired by Bonnie's card the way she stamped the script through the stencil on the flowers.  I love making cards with flowers so this is how mine turned out.

I used Pretty Pink Posh Peonies Stencil and DOI Picked Raspberry & Bundled Sage inks.  I used the same flower and masked off sections of the stencil, stamped the script from SU Very Versallies in Crumb Cake ink after sponging each flower and leaves individually.  I used a yellow marker to add the dots to the center of the flowers.  I then die cut the panel with a stitched oval die and mounted it with foam tape on a panel embossed with SU Dainty Diamonds EF.  I used Bundled Sage DOI to ink a small scrap and then die cut the hello sentiment.  I die cut 2 white layers, glued them all  together and then to the card front..

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thinking of You for CAS Mix Up Challenge

Hello friends.  I have a card I made for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Alcohol Inks on Vellum.

I used alcohol inks on vellum, stamping, die cut, and added some foiling on the alcohol inked vellum. I watched several videos on this technique before attempting it.  I really liked the final result and it is so pretty behind the die cut.
I die cut Memory Box Floral Stem Collage from a white panel and stamped the sentiment from SU Good Morning Magnolia. I added a gold rhinestone to the center of the flower.   I used 3 shades of alcohol ink and the alcohol blending solution, mixed them and, blew them around on the vellum with a straw.  I dabbed the excess off and when it was dry but still sticky I used a piece of gold foil and rubbed it in several places (thanks to the instructions in the video).  You can see the gold better in the photo below.

Happiest of Birthdays

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card to share today.  I used the challenge at CAS Mix Up - Off the Edge.

I stamped this pretty floral image from Gina K. Designs You Make Me Smile in Staz-On ink on Bristol Smooth card.  I used my waterbrush with Barn Door and Peeled Paint DI to color the image.  I then added a pale blue shadow around the image.  Of course I got an ink drop on the panel so added some pretty gems to cover it. (I do need to practice more with my watercoloring).  The sentiment is from SU Birthday Blooms (retired). I mounted this panel to a thin green mat and then to my card base.

I will also link this to The Flower Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day and a Blessed Thanksgiving.

CAS Mix Up Card Challenge

Hello Friends.  Today I am sharing a card I made for the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge -  Tone on Tone using stencils.

I die cut an oval from cardstock and used the negative to sponge the oval with Speckled Egg DOI, then I placed my new Newton's Nook Gingham Stencil over it (with the negative oval piece still in place) and sponged Salty Ocean DOI over the oval for the tone on tone look.  I had this pretty flower already stamped, colored and fussy cut just waiting to be used on a card, so I paced it to the bottom of the oval, off center, and then placed some die cut leaves around it.  The sentiment is from SU Fancy Phrases and die cut with a fishtail flag die.  I mounted the flower and the sentiment with foam tape.  I added a thin black mat and my card was done.

Birthday Wishes for CAS Mix Up - Embossing with Dies

Hello Friends.  First, let me say that I hate the new Blogger. :(  I can't tell you how much trouble I have had the last 2 days with it and I am finally trying to get this card posted for the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge. - Embossing with Dies.

For my card I used this lovely flower from Technique Tuesday called Royal Jasmine.  I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with SU Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green Blends.  I die cut it with the matching die and then did a little extra fussy cutting.  I mounted it with foam tape on a Stitched Rectangle die cut panel embossed with a die from Kaisercraft.  You can see the embossing better in the photo below.  The sentiment is from SU Butterfly Wishes.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up Card Challenge

Hello friends.  Today I am sharing a card I made for the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge - Embossed Vellum.
I used dry embossing, stamping, die-cutting, and fussy cutting.

I dry-embossed the vellum with an older Anna Griffin EF, Poppy and embossed the frame with SU Subtle EF. The vellum is adhered between the frame and an older piece of peach color pattern paper.   I die-cut the center of the frame with a stitched rectangle die.  The sentiment from Peaceful Moments is stamped on a scrap piece of white and adhered under the frame edges.  I stamped the flower from SU Tasteful Touches and colored it with Calypso Coral Blends. (I think it kind of matches the flower in the embossed vellum.)  The leaves from Prized Peony are stamped in black and colored with Old Olive Blends. I fussy cut the leaves and flower and adhered the flower with foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Stay safe and have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up - Inchies

Hello friends.  I have a card for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Inchies to share with you today.
I used stamping, coloring, dry embossing and texture.
I have never used such small stamps before but wanted to give it a try.  I first cut 4 one inch squares and then stamped these cute images from Cottage Cutz Snow Fun.  The set was a gift from a friend.  I colored them with markers, sponged some light blue ink around the 3 sides and then added a tiny bit of Snow Texture Paste to the bottoms. I think they turned out so cute.  I matted them with a thin red mat and added them with foam tape to a panel that was partially embossed with SU Softly Falling EF.  I stamped the sentiment in SU Real Red with a Verve stamp, added a thin red mat and then added the panel to my card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up - Paper towel

I finally tried the paper towel technique for the CAS Mix Up Challenge. This is a fun technique to try.  I used the paper towel technique, die cutting and stamping.

Yea, This card was one of the Outstanding Design picks at CAS Mix Up Challenge.
I was trying some spray mists I have had for ages and had wiped some up with this paper towel and started to throw it away, when I remembered the paper towel challenge over at CAS Mix Up so gave it a try.  The paper towel was wet so I just laid it on some Bristol Smooth card and pressed it down and this is what I came up with.  You can still see the texture imprint from the paper towel.  I will have to try this technique again.

I used MFT Rectangle Peek-a-boo Window to cut out the center of my white panel, cut with a SU Stitched Rectangle die, and placed the inked piece behind it.  I die cut Memory Box Glorius Floral Stem from white card and added it with foam tape for more dimension.  The sentiment is from SU Beautiful Bouquet stamped in Melon Mambo to match the color of the inked panel.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,

CAS Mix Up - Ombre

I was working on this ombre panel for the CAS Mix Up challenge and decided to make an anniversary card for a couple at church. I used ombre blending, stamping and die cutting.
I used SU Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo and Primrose Petal inks for my ombre panel and then die cut it with the Delicate Lace Edgelits dies.  I happen to have the floral die cut from Bloom & Grow already colored with Flirty Flamingo Blends for the flowers, and die cut, so I added some foam tape and popped it up on my card.  The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy Anniversary Innies stamp set.  I love the way it turned out and hope the recipients do also.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Amazing Birthday for CAS Mix Up Card Challenge

I wanted to try the baby wipe technique featured on the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge and this is what I came up with.
My choice is baby wipe, stamping and die cutting.
I used 3 baby wipes to make an ink pad with Crushed Curry, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo inks. I tried stamping a couple of different stamps but didn't like it, so I tried the swiping technique and liked it better.  I have another background for a card and will show that later.  For this one I die cut the Memory Box Cheery Flower Collage from a white panel die cut with SU Stitched Rectangles.  I placed this over my swiped panel and added 2 rhinestones to the flower centers.  The sentiment is from SU Humming Along.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a blessed day.

CAS Mix Up - Bokeh

Hello friends.  I am sharing a card I made for the CAS Mix-Up Challenge - Bokeh.  I had never done this technique and wanted to give it a try.  I followed the links on CAS Mix-Up that showed the tutorials on doing the Bokeh technique.
I used Bokeh, Stamping, Die-cutting and Sequins.
I used several blue inks (my favorite color) and sponged them on Tim Holtz glossy card and then used white craft ink and a circle template for the Bokeh technique.  After it dried overnight, I cut a white panel with MFT Peek-a-Boo Circle Frame die and mounted this with foam tape over the Bokeh panel.  The flower image is from Catherine Pooler Grateful Heart set.  I colored with markers and die cut it with the matching dies.  I mounted this with foam tape also. The sentiment is from My Sentiments Exactly Inspirational Birthday.  Lastly, I added some sequins for a little bling.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up - Metal

Good morning friends.  I made a card for the CAS Mix Up October challenge - Metal.  I had to give this faux metal technique a try.

Yay, my card was one of the Top Picks at CAS Mix Up.

I am getting better at CAS cards. :)  and enjoy playing in the CAS challenges.  I am using metal, stamping and die cuts.  I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Circle Leaves 3 times, layered it and embossed it 5 times in gold embossing powder to give it a metal look - I hope it does.  I had embossed the circle around the leaves, but didn't like it so I clipped the cleaves out of the circle and them made a frame with two circle dies and placed the leaves in it.  I mounted the frame with foam tape to match the dimension of the leaves. I added the watercolor background to make them shine and also added some gold spots to it.  The scallop panel is die cut with MFT Blueprints 27 die.  The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled Floral Frame set.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

CAS Mix Up September Challenge

This is my second post today as I made a card for the CAS Mix Up September Challenge - Ink your stamp with markers.

Die cutting is my choice so I die cut the Reverse Confetti Stitched Square die and then stamped the image from SU Serene Silhouettes after coloring it with SU Chocolate Chip and Real Red markers.  I had a little boo-boo on the bottom two red birds as I got brown on them but it still looks o.k, in my opinion. :)
I placed the die cut back in the die and sponged some Bashful Blue ink around the edges and then matted it with a thin mat of Chocolate CS.  I mounted this on my card base with foam tape and then stamped the sentiment, which is an older SU stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,

CAS Mix Up - Monoprint

Good morning friends.  I had to try this monoprint technique for the CAS Mix UP challenge.  They have several links to explain this technique so I watched all of them and then gave it a try.  (I am getting lots of practice with the CAS style) ☺

ETA:  wow, my card was chosen as one of the Outstanding Designs on CAS Mix Up challenge.

I used an adhesive stencil from the Dollar Tree and 4 Distress Oxide Inks - Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry, Broken China, and Fossilized Amber.  Like the tutorial said I smooshed them all over the stencil, sprayed it liberally with water and then lifted it, turned it over and pressed it against another piece of card.  I like the final result but it was kind of hard with the sticky back stencil,   I like the flower design, but will have to try it with another stencil.  Then I die cut this lovely  Poppy Stamps Floral Stem Collage from a panel the same size as my card base and adhered it over the monoprint piece.  I adhere the whole panel to the front of my card base and added a tiny pink enamel dot to the flower center.  I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black Birthday Wheels underneath the opening.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,

Wishing You a Lovely Birthday

This card will be going to a special friend.

I created my card using the splashing technique for the background panel using Victorian Velvet DI and then I colored the Pretty Pink Posh Cherry Blossoms that I stamped and die cut.  I hope this qualifies for the CAS Mix Up Challenge (color your die cuts) and also the CAS Watercolor Challenge - Using Splash Watercoloring.
I used a die that I recently got from AE and the sentiment is from PTI Vintage Linens.  I really love the Cherry Blossom stamp and die set and I colored them with Copics and mounted them with foam tape.  The white panel is mounted with foam tape also.  The card base is SU Blushing Bride which matched the distress ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn
