Thanks (Another card for OWH VCMP)

This is another card for one of the challenges on the Operation Write Home VCMP (Virtual Card Making Party) over the Labor Day weekend.

My card is for challenge #3  here, which is to make a triple die cutting technique card.  I chose this pretty paper from the SU Tea for Two DSP and used two of the Spellbinders Classic Rectangles taped together to cut the 3 separate pieces at one time.  I then matted each piece with SU Always Artichoke CS and then adhered them on top of each other aligning the pattern.  The strip across the middle is done with SU Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.  The sentiment is from SU Tagtastic stamped in Alway Artichoke ink, punched with a scallop circle punch, and then I sponged ink on the edges.  This piece is mounted with foam tape.

Labor Day Weekend VCMP at Operation Write Home

labor day vcmp
Operation Write Home is having a "Virtual Card Making Party" (VCMP) on this Labor Day weekend and I am joining in their challenges.  You can read all about it on there blog.   I have made a couple of cards, but haven't done them in order of the challenges. I am still trying to catch up.  Here are the two that I have made:

Challenge #1 is a sketch challenge for a Christmas card using 1" squares.  Here is my card and the sketch:

I used SU Garden Green CS for the base and SU Naturals Ivory CS for the layer embossed with a Sizzix holly EF and for the sentiment strip.  I punched the 1" squares from some retired SU Christmas DSP, using both sides.  The sentiment from SU More Merry Messages is stamped in SU Cherry Cobbler ink.  I added the two SU glitter brads to finish my card.

Challenge #4 is to make a Love card using this sketch:

I flipped the sketch sideways so the sentiment would fit.  I used some papers from Echo Park's Yours Truly 6x6 pad, SU Basic Black CS and X-Press It Blending Card.  The sentiment is from Verve's Hundred Hearts.  I did some paper-piercing around the edges, sponged some Cherry Cobler ink on the edges and added the little punched heart.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appeciate your comments.

I Miss You So Much - The Paper Players #156

This is my card for The Paper Players Sketch #156.   The card base, mats and DSP are SU Regal Rose. I embossed the white panel with SU Finial Press EF.  The flower is from Verve's Grateful Elegance and the sentiment is from Verve's Take Note.  I stamped the sentiment in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and cut it out with MFT's Fishtail Flags Stax and Fishtail Flags Stax Layers.  I used MFT's Leaf-filled Flourish to cut the flourish under the flower in SU Pear Pizzazz CS.  I stamped the flowers on white CS in Regal Rose ink and sponged ink lightly over them. Cut them out and sponged more ink on the petal edges.   I added the white brad to the flower center and to the horizontal panel and my card was done.   This card will be going in my box for Operation Write Home to send to our service men and women overseas.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment.

I Still Get Butterflies When I See You

ETA:  My card was an Honourable Mention at the Dynamic Duos challenge.

MFTWSC134
I made my card with MFTWSC134 sketch and the Dynamic Duos #62 color challenge, with the Dessert Option to add butterflies.  I will be adding this card to my box to go to Operation Write Home for the troops overseas to send home to their family and friends.

For my card base and mats, I used MFT Whip Cream and Black Licorice CS.  I stamped the butterfly from MFT LJD-Blissful Butterflies in Calypso Coral ink on Whip Cream CS and cut it out.  The sentiment from MFT You Make My Day is stamped with Mememto Black ink also on Whip Cream CS and cut out with MFT Circle Stax 1 and 2 Die-namics.  I sponged Calypso Coral ink around the edges while still in the die.  The flowers are made with MFT Upsy Daisy Die-namic in SU Calypso Coral textured CS and a Black Licorice CS center.  The center daisy is mounted with foam tape.  I glued just the center of the butterfly down, lifted his wings for dimension, and added a trail of Recollections Rhinestone flourish.  The DSP is from two different retired SU paper packs.

ETA: Thanks to Cheryl at A.R.T. Card Challenge for letting me know of their anything goes challenge this week.  I am linking my card in their challenge also.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

Operation Write Home Sketch 178

178
This is my card for Operation Write Home Sketch 178.  I made a boy birthday card using Sugarplums Balloon Trevor stamp.  I stamped the image with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card and colored him with Copics.  I paper-pieced his shirt, pants, and balloon.  I also added a little white highlight with a Signo White Gel Pen.  The DSP are from a Build-A-Card Pad by Imaginisce.  I used SU Choc. Chip for all the mats.  The two brads are from SU.  That's it for my card.

Happy Father's Day (Second Post for today)

This is the card I made for my hubby for Father's Day.  I am entering it in the June challenge at Operation Write Home - Our Daily Bread Designs for a card featuring water.

The card base is SU Whisper White, then a mat of SU Night of Navy CS and Night of Navy DSP.  The image from ODBD "The Waves of the Sea" is stamped in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.  I added some white highlights to the water and around the boat with a Signo White Gel pen.  I sponged clouds on with SU Bashful Blue ink and a scalloped circle punch.  The botton corner pieces are from an older Cuttlebug die and I used the negative pieces for the top corners.

I am also entering my card in this challenge at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog  Just for Dad

I just noticed Linda at Catered Crop has a challenge "For the Boys" so I am linking this card to her challenge here:  http://cateredcrop.com/   Catered Crop

Here are two cards I made for Operation Write Home, Sketch #175 and #176.

Card 1 (Sketch #175)  The card base is white and the rest of the papers are DSP from DCWV Linen Closet Matstack.  I used a 1" square punch and inked around the edges of the squares with Baha Breeze and Crumb Cake ink.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things  triple scoop free set - Bold Statements and is stamped in Baha Breeze ink.  The tiny buttons are from my stash.

Card 2 (Sketch #176)  The card base is Whisper White, next is a mat of SU Choc. Chip CS and the DSP is from SU Afternoon Tea (retired).  The banner is cut with MFT Fishtail Flags Stax and the sentiment is from SU Sincere Salutations stamped in Choc. Chip ink. The bottom left corner is cut with an older Cuttlebug die with Choc. Chip CS.

Thinking of You Makes Me Happy

This is my card for this week's MFTWSC#123.
The sentiment is from MFT You Make My Day.  For such a sweet sentiment I wanted to add some cheerful papers so I chose all the DSP from Simple Stories Summer 6x6 pad.  The card base is SU Crumb Cake CS and all the mats and sentiment panel are MFT Whip Cream CS.  The flowers are made from the smaller flower in MFT Blueprints 3 Die-namics.  I cut between each petal and shaped them with my fingers.  I also sponged SU So Saffron ink around the edge of each petal. The center of the flowers are also cut with the Blueprints 3 Dies from some cork looking paper from the same pad.  The banner is cut with MFT Fishtail Flag Stax.  I added the faux stitching around the sentiment panel with my Zig pen and a ruler.

I have started making cards for Operation Write Home and this card will be going in that box.  They make cards to send to our military men and women overseas so they will have cards to send home to their loved ones.  You can check it out here.
