Thinking of You

Hello friends.  I have a new card to share today.  I made this one with the technique the ladies are doing at Group of Seven Cardmakers. Their technique this time is ink blending on colored cardstock. There is a video link on their blog with this technique if you would like to try it.  It is an easy technique and I love the final result of my card.

I chose Cherry Cobbler as my base and embossed this pretty image from Unity Stamps I have had for several years called You Are Forever Beautiful.  I embossed it in gold and then blended Cherry Cobbler ink around the edges and Black Soot DI lightly around the edge.  I embossed the sentiment from SU Go To Greetings in gold on a strip of black cardstock and glued it to the edge.  I added some gold sequins as a final touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Anniversary Card for Inspired By Challenge

Hello friends.  I have an anniversary card to share today.   For my card I was inspired by the colors at Inspired By Challenge - Lilacs.

I chose the lilac and green colors from the bouquet of lilacs and used SU Fresh Freesia as the main color.   I embossed the white panel with Spellbinders  Diamond Plaid EF and mounted it on a mat of Fresh Freesia.  I then die cut the flowers from Fresh Freesia with Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms die set and the green leaves and sprigs from a scrap of green.  I added a small white flower to the centers of the larger flowers and then added a fancy rhinestone.  The flowers are mounted with foam tape and the leaves and buds were glued under the petals.  The sentiment is die cut using Creative Expressions dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Seize the Birthday - Make it Pop

Hello friends.  We have a new challenge starting today at Seize the Birthday and Ashwini wants us to make our cards pop.  I thought orange and lime green would pop so that is the colors I went with on my card.  I don't use orange very often but I like the way my card turned out.

I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Florals 7 to die cut my flowers.  I cut the 2 medium layers twice from SU Pumpkin Pie card and the smaller flower once for each flower and shaped them with my stylus before gluing them together.  The leaves are cut from a scrap piece of Parakeet Party card and blended with the same ink around the edges.  The white panel is embossed with Spellbinders Stylized Trellis EF and mounted on a Pumpkin Pie mat.  The sentiments are from SU Sending Smiles stamp and die set.  I die cut the base layer of Sending in Pumpkin Pie and the top layer in white.  Birthday Wishes is stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink on a die cut shape from the same set.  The flowers and small sentiment are mounted with foam tape and the leaves glued under the petals.  I added two fancy rhinestones to the flower centers for a final touch.

Be sure to check out all of the great cards by the team over at Seize the Birthday and join in the fun.

Color Hues - Orange & Slate Grey

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card I made for the Color Hues Challenge - Orange & Slate Gray.

I used Spellbinders Club Blooms dies for my flowers and leaves.  I cut the flowers from ivory cardstock and blended Pumpkin Pie ink in the centers before layering them together.  I cut the leaf sprigs from SU Basic Gray and the other leaves from SU Gray Granite.  Happy Birthday is cut from Gray Granite and layered on a die cut ivory shadow using Memory Box Happy Birthday Posh Script.  The striped Pumpkin Pie paper is an old piece I had in my stash and I embossed it with the new SU Cross Hatch EF but it doesn't show up very well on the pattern paper.  I mounted it to an ivory card base and then mounted the flowers with foam tape.  I glued the leaves under the blooms and then glued the sentiment on the bottom.  I really like the way it turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Congratulations

Hello friends.  This is my second post today as I had to make a card for a friend who is getting married.

I used Memory Box Riverbank Large Layered Blooms for the flowers and Memory Box Exquisite Leaf Set for the leaves.  I die cut the 3 layers of the blooms and blended Pacific Point ink in the centers before gluing them together. I colored the die cut centers with lt. gray markers.  The lt. blue panel is embossed with an older Darice EF and mounted to the white card base.  The flowers were mounted with foam tape and I glued the leaves under the edges of the petals.  I cut a strip of the lt. blue card and embossed the sentiment (SU Flourishing Phrases - retired) in gold and them mounted it with foam tape.  I added to clear gold gems on the strip.

Masculine Birthday Card

Hello friends.  We have a new challenge at Make My Monday and the theme is Masculine.  I made this cute card for a young boy at church and he loved it.

I used an older stamp from MFT, Cowboy at Heart.  I stamped him in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with Copics.  I blended lt. green ink for the grass and lt. blue ink for the sky, and added a Crumb Cake mat.  The white panel is embossed with SU Tasteful Textile EF (ret.) after I stamped the sentiment from an older Gina K. set.  I matted the white panel with Crumb Cake and then added it to the card base and my card was done.

Be sure to check out all the great masculine cards at Make My Monday and join in the fun.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

As You See It Challenge

Hello friends.  When I saw the mood board at As You See It Challenge, I just had to make a card as blues and flowers are my favorites.

ETA:  Yea, my card was a Top Pick at As You See It Challenge.

challenge #299

The first thing I did was stamp the 3 flowers from SU Two Tone Flora in Pacific Point ink. I stamped the detail image full strength and then the whole image by stamping off once with the same ink.  The leaves are stamped with Soft Succulent ink and then the flowers and leaves were die cut with the matching dies.  I used an older die and embossing folder for the frame, first die cutting and then embossing the details.  I die cut the bow from a retired SU floral set using blue card from an assortment pack from Hobby Lobby.  The lt. blue panel is also from the same pack and embossed with SU Tasteful Textile EF (retired).  I stamped the sentiment from a retired SU set and then glued the strip behind the frame.  I mounted the frame with foam tape for dimension and then added the flowers, leaves and bow. The center flower is mounted with foam tape.  I added a rhinestone to the bow center for a final touch, then mounted the whole panel to a white card base.

I will also add this to The Flower Challenge as the blues are pretty pastel colors.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Pastel Flowers for The Flower Challenge

Hello friends.  I have a new birthday card made for The Flower Challenge - Pretty Pastels

I used Concord & 9th Friendly Florals Dies and die cut the pretty blooms from Pink Pirouette card (ret.) and sponged Blushing Bride ink over the petal tips.  I glued the two layers together and then added the top cut from Crumb Cake and lightly sponged with the same ink.  The leaves are cut from Pear Pizzazz and also lightly sponged.  I glued these to a white panel embossed with Spellbinders Stylized Trellis EF and then to a lt. blue mat.  The sentiment from SU Go To Greetings was stamped in Soft Suede ink and mounted with foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a lovely day.

Happy Stamping,

Seize the Birthday - Wheels

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Jules has chosen the "Topping" option of wheels on your birthday card.

I used this image from MFT PI I Wheelie Like You - she is so cute and perfect for the the challenge.  I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with Copics and SU Blends.  I then blended some lt. blue and lt. green inks over the background for the grass and sky.  The sentiment is from SU Go to Greetings. I die cut the panel with SU Scallop Contours die and mounted it with form tape to a Seaside Spray (retired) panel embossed with SU Tasteful Textile EF (also retired), but I love using them.

Be sure to check out all the different ideas the team and our Surprise Party Guest, Bonnie Klass,  came up with over at Seize the Birthday.  Hope you join in our fun challenge.

Just Thinking of You

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Make My Monday and the theme is Clean and Simple (card base + 1 layer).  I made a Thinking of You card to send to a friend who is still recovering from a stroke.

For my card I softly blended Sahara Sand ink over Altenew Grid Stencil and then stamped SU Two Tone Flora in Calypso Coral ink, full strength for the detail image and stamping off once for the lighter base layer.  I stamped the first flower off the side and then added the second flower.  I wanted to add stems and leaves so I used SU Flowering Tulips for those and stamped them in Wild Wasabi ink.  The sentiment is also from the Flowering Tulips set.  For a final touch I used SU Stitched With Whimsy dies (retired)  around the panel - it just adds stitches but does not cut.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #207

Hello friends.  I just got Concord & 9th Friendly Florals Dies and have been playing with them.  I cut the flowers in several different colors and wanted to use the purple ones so I made a card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #207 using the diagonal row from bottom left to top right - Purple, Dry Embossing, Die Cut.

ETA:  My card was one of the Team Picks at Tic Tac Toe Challenge.

I die cut the two layers of flower from Highland Heather and blended the same color ink on the ends of the petals before gluing just the top parts together.  The flower centers are cut from Crumb Cake and also blended with ink.  I die cut the stems & leaves from Wild Wasabi (retired) and then blended them with ink.  I dry embossed the top 2/3 of the white panel with Tasteful Textile EF and then stamped the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings on the bottom of the panel.  I added a strip of pattern paper from my stash and then mounted the flowers with foam tape and glued the stems down.  I really  like how the card turned out.  These Concord & 9th dies are so easy to use and make lovely flowers.

I will link to Beautiful Blossoms Challenge  as I love to make cards with flowers. They have a lovely mood board and purple & green are two of the colors.

I will also link to NBUS as this is the first time I have used the new dies.

Happy Birthday for JUGS

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card to share today.  I made this one using JUGS Challenge - CASE a DT Member.

There are quite a few that I was drawn to but the one that spoke to me most was Lisa E's card with the 2 big blooms and sentiment tag on the side, also love the embossed background.

I thought of several flower dies I have but settled on Honey Bee Lovely Layers Anemone die set.  I cut the layers from SU Petal Pink and the leaves from Pear Pizzazz.  I blended the same color ink around the edges of the petals and leaves and layered the flowers.  I added the centers cut from Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I mounted the flowers with foam tape on a white panel embossed with Spellbinders Hydrangea Blooms EF.  I tried die cutting several doilies to glue on the background (like Lisa's embossing) but liked the embossed panel better.  I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede and die cut it with a die from SU Seasonal Labels die, shortened it and mounted it with foam tape.  I added Wink of Stella to the flower centers and my card was done.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Anniversary for The Paper Players #638

Hello friends.  I have an anniversary card to share today.  I made this one for our Youth Pastor and his wife using the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.

ETA:  Yea, my card was chosen as Headliner at the Paper Players.

I used the bottom left to upper right diagonal line - sparkle (gold beads & gold embossing), die cut (flowers and background cover plate) and embossing, wet or dry (wet embossing with gold embossing powder).  I was inspired by this card by Bette Manning on Pinterest (thanks for the inspiration Bette).  I love the colors and flowers and used the same but changed up the design and sentiment.  The Pale Papaya background is cut with Spellbinders Infinity Punch & Pierce Plate - I left out the center panel and placed it on a white card base.  The flowers are cut with Spellbinders Stylish Oval Hello You Floral dies in off-white card.  I sponged the centers with Petal Pink ink and die cut the small center pieces from Petal Pink card for a little contrast.  I added small gold beads to the centers to coordinate with the gold embossed sentiment, which is from an older Verve set.  The leaves are die cut from Soft Sea Foam card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

I will also link to Darnell's NBUS as this is the first time I have used me new Spellbinder's dies.

Happy Stamping,
