Happy Birthday with Balloons

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Vicki has chosen the "Topping" option of balloons.  Remember it is an option and the only requirement is that it has to be for a birthday.

The digital image is called Party Kitty and I thought it was perfect for this challenge.  I don't remember where I got it. I found it on my computer and printed it out, colored with SU Blends and then cut it out with my Scan and Cut as some of the colors bled outside the lines a little.  I mounted the image with foam tape on a white panel embossed with Spellbinders Argyle Socks EF.  I stamped the sentiment from SU Go To Greetings on a scrap of white and die cut it with an MFT die.  I went around the edges with Lt. Flirty Flamingo Blend to make it stand out from the background, and then mounted it with foam tape.  I added a lt. pink mat then glued it to the card base.

Be sure to check out all the fabulous cards by the team over at Seize the Birthday and join in our fun challenge.

Make My Monday Challenge - Flowers

Hello friends.  We have a new challenge at Make My Monday and the theme is Flowers (my favorite of course).  Be sure to check out all the great cards by the team over at MMM and join in our fun challenge.

I combined some new and old items on this card.  The new are all Spellbinders products - Orange Peel EF, Stylish Oval Hello You Floral dies, and Essential Diamonds.  This is my first time using these products.  The old is Just Rite Large Fancy Sentiments (love the fonts in this set) and the die cut leaves from an older SU set.  I mounted the sentiment panel with foam tape and glued the flowers and leaves on the embossed panel.  I added some green enamel dots for a final touch.

I will also link to Darnell's NBUS Challenge (Never Before Used Schtuff).

Happy Birthday for Color Throwdown

Hello friends.  I love the color combination for the current Color Throwdown challenge so I had to make a card with these colors - Aqua, Celery Green, Yellow.

For the flower and buds I used SU So Saffron and Certainly Celery (retired) for the leaves and stems.   All the elements are cut from Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms and Club Blooms dies.  The sentiment is cut with Memory Box Happy Birthday Poe Script die from some aqua paper in a Paper Studio Stack from Hobby Lobby.  The white panel is embossed with Spellbinders Splatter EF - my first time using it and I love the texture from it.  I mounted the flowers in the lower left corner and glued the leaves under the petals.   I added the white panel to an aqua mat and then to the card base.

I will also link this one to AAA Birthday challenge - Layer it Up

Honey Bee Cone Flower Birthday

Hello friends.  I am sharing a new birthday card today.  I finally got the Honey Bee Cone Flower Die and this is the first time I have used it.

I die cut the petals from Powder Pink card stock (retired SU) and ink the centers with darker pink ink.  I then glued all the layers together at the top (love the dimension of the flower).  I die cut the cone part from Crumb Cake and inked the top layer with Crumb Cake ink to darken it some.  The leaves are cut from Wild Wasabi (retired) and the edges inked with the matching ink.  I shaped the leaves before gluing them under the flower petals.  I mounted the flower on a panel embossed with an Anna Griffin EF Matelasse, and die cut with a stitched rectangle die.  I mounted this to a thin Wild Wasabi mat.  I glued the sentiment strip across the lower part of the panel and added 2 small green enamel dots.  The sentiment is from a retired SU set.  I cut a thin strip of green and added it for a stem as the die set doesn't have a stem and I like the way it turned out.

I will link this to AAA Birthday Challenge - layer it up.

Focus on Background Stamping

Hello friends.  I have 2 cards to share today that I made for The Flower Challenge - Focus on Background Stamping.

I was inspired by a lady's blouse at church Sunday.  It was navy with open white flowers that  reminded me of SU Cheerful Daisies I just received.  That is an outline image and a fill-in image in the large flower and the small flower.  I just used the fill-in stamps and embossed them in white on a navy background.

I made the one with the large flowers first and then added a sentiment on a white strip punched with a border punch.  The blouse did not have anything in the flower centers but I dressed my flowers up with some fancy rhinestone gems from Hobby Lobby.  I liked the final result but thought I would also try it with the small bloom.

I added plain rhinestones to the centers of these blooms. I die cut the navy panel down to 5-1/4 x 4 to show the white card base and to bring in more of the white.  I die cut the edges of the sentiment strip with a small scallop die and added small rhinestones to it.   I used the same sentiment from a retired SU set on both cards

Thinking of You with Gilding Flakes

I finally got to play with the gilding flakes to make this card inspired by the Group of Seven Cardmakers.  Love the different techniques they inspire us with and  this month they are dry embossing with gilding flakes.  Here is my card using this technique.

I used gold and copper gilding flakes on a scrap piece of white card that I had applied double sided sticky sheet to.  After pressing and burnished the flakes on, I then embossed it with SSS Vine Canopy EF and swiped Staz-on Black Ink over the raised areas several times,  I used the outside die from Pink & Main Diagonal Die to cut the black panel and then a stitched rectangle die to cut out the center to make a frame.  I heat embossed the sentiment from SU Go To Greetings in gold on a strip of black and glued it diagonally under the edges of the frame. I trimmed the embossed panel and glued the frame over it.  I then mounted the panel to the white card base.  I am pleased with the final result and enjoyed trying this technique.

Check out there blog and try the fun techniques they share, plus all the inspiration from the designers' cards.

Happy Birthday in Pastels

Hello friends.  I have another birthday card to share today.  I made this one for AAA Birthday Challenge - Layer It Up (I have lots of layers on it).

I used Spellbinders Club Blooms for the pretty blooms, leaves and buds. The blooms are 2 layers glued together.  I cut them from SU Blushing Bride and So Safron and then inked the middle with the same shade of ink.  The leaves and sprig are cut from Soft Sea Foam.  I mounted them on a panel embossed with my new Spellbinders Tiled Motif (March 3D EF of the month).  I mounted this to a panel of Soft Sky (retired) and then to the card base.  The sentiment is from a retired SU set and die cut with a Stylish Shapes die (twice) for dimension.  I added a fancy rhinestone gem to the centers of the blooms.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Cheerful Daisies

Hello friends.  I made a birthday card for the Color Hues Challenge - Peach & Kraft, using my new Cheerful Daisies set from SU.  This is my second post today as I wanted to get this done for the challenge.

I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with SU Blends - Pale Papaya and a touch of Lt. Pumpkin Pie.  After die cutting them with the matching dies, I trimmed some of the white edging off and clipped between the petals so I could shape them with my fingers.  The centers are stamped with Soft Suede and colored with Lt. Crumb Cake.  I mounted the flowers with foam tape.  The sprigs and sentiment panel are die cut from Crumb Cake card stock and the sprigs glued under the flower petals.   I stamped the sentiment from the Daisies set with Soft Suede ink and mounted  it with foam tape. The white panel is embossed with SU Dainty Diamonds EF and mounted to a Crumb Cake base.

Using Alcohol Ink for Seize the Birthday

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Shirley has chosen the theme of Alcohol for our topping option.  Remember it is an option choice - the only requirement is that is has to be for a birthday.

I used alcohol inks in green, yellow and orange on Yuppo paper (made for alcohol inks).  I dropped ink drops on the paper and then blew them with a straw to mingle the colors.  I really like the way it turned out. When the inks were dry but still tacky, I rubbed gold foil over it to give it some shine.  I die cut Memory Box Dream Butterfly from gold foil card.  I traced around the die on the inked Yuppo paper and then fussy cut the bottom layer for the butterfly.  I did add a gold die cut body & antenna from another butterfly set.  I glued just the center of the gold die cut butterfly to the cut out butterfly and then glued just the center on a Soft Sea Foam panel embossed with Spellbinders Leafy 3D EF.  I added a sentiment strip on the lower section of the panel, matted with black, and then glued the whole panel to a black mat, and then to the white card base.  The sentiment is from a retried SU set.  I also added two orangeish rhinestones to the sentiment strip.  The gold foiling doesn't show up well under the fold foil die cut butterfly, but is so pretty IRL.

Be sure to check out all the great cards by our party guest and the Design Team over at Seize the Birthday.  Hope to see you in our gallery.

Happy Birthday for HLS

Hello friends.  I have another birthday card to share today.

I had this blue paper on my table and the white strips from a Spellbinders die and decided to make a card with them.  I glued 3 strips horizontally and vertically starting from the lower left corner.  After adding the strips, I embossed the panel with SU Subtle EF (retired - but I love using it).  Then I had to decide which flower to use and settle on Honey Bee Lovely Layers Anemone.  I already had the leaves and bud cut from Pear Pizzazz card so I die cut the flower layers and bud from white and then blended Pacific Point ink in the centers of the layers and on the bottom of the bud.  I shaped the petals with my stylus and then glued them together.  I glued the flower in the lower left corner and glued the leaves under the edges of the petals.  I decided to add the pretty bud and like the way it turned out.  I die cut the sentiment with Memory Box Happy Birthday Posh Script die but did not use the shadow die as it did not need it.

Frame It for Make My Monday

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Make My Monday and the theme is Frame It.

I made an anniversary card for a young couple at church.  The flower is from Papertrey Ink Into the Blooms II dies, cut from SU Primrose Petals (retired), and the leaves from 2 different SU sets were cut from Wild Wasabi (retired).  The sentiment is from SU Celebrating You stamped in Early Espresso ink.  I made the frame using HoneyBee Wood Frame Builder dies, cutting 2 sides and 2 ends from Sahara Sand card and then taped the corners on the back.  I then cut a white panel and glued behind the frame for the sentiment and flower. The large white panel is stamped in Crumb Cake ink with Pinkfresh Studio Diamond Tiles background stamp.  I mounted the flower with foam tape and glued the leaves under the petals, then added a rhinestone gem to the center of the flower.  I also coated the flower petals with Wink of Stella for extra shine.

I will link to Darnell's NBUS as this is the first time I have used the Frame Builder dies.

Hello There

Hello friends.  I have another card to share today.  I made this one for a friend who is recovering from a stroke.  I think it will cheer her up as she likes my cards.

I stamped the bird image from SU Friendly Hello (retired) on a white die cut with SU Stitched so Sweetly dies.  I colored it with SU Blends, Balmy Blue, Flirty Flamingo, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake and then blended Balmy Blue ink around the edges.  I mounted it on the Soft Sea Foam panel embossed with Spellbinders Leafy 3D EF - love this folder as it gives great impressions.  I added a thick black mat and then mounted to the white card base.   I stamped the sentiment and fussy cut it, angling the ends.  I used the brush end of the Balmy Blue marker to go around the edges to make it stand out better.  The image panel and sentiment are mounted with foam tape.

I am linking to the Triple B Challenge (Birds, Blooms & Butterflies) as I have a bird and blooms on this one.  Love playing in their challenge as most all of my cards have blooms on them. 😀
This is their inspiration board and I was inspired by the little bluebird and pink flowers in the bottom left picture.

I am also linking to Darnell's NBUS challenge as this is the first time I have used my new Leafy EF.

Best Birthday

Hello friends.  I have another birthday card to share today.  I was inspired by this card by Gail Ellis. I love the design and neutral tones so I had to try it.  I changed a few things - narrow ribbon, different sentiment and added two small butterflies instead of the large black one.

I made a stencil with a die cut from the trellis die from SU Organic Beauty dies and sponged Crumb Cake ink on the white panel (I wish I had done a little larger area).  I then stamped the image from Framed Florets once and then a partial image next to it on a 4x3 white panel.  A piece of Crumb Cake cut 4x2-1/4 was embossed with the Tasteful Textile EF.  I joined the 2 peices with ScorTape on the back and then added black strip and wrapped the ribbon around it and taped it to the back.  The sentiment is from a retired SU set I had on my table and I liked it.  The two small butterflies are from Butterfly Gala (retired) stamped in black and colored with Crumb Cake Blends.  The whole panel is mounted with foam tape to the card base.

I will link this to the Triple B Challenge (Birds, Blooms & Butterflies).  I used blooms & butterflies.
