Seize the Birthday - Create a Sunset Scene

Hello friends and happy Thursday.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Colleen has chosen the theme of Create a Sunset Scene.

I have had this stamp set The Waves of the Sea from Our Daily Bread (now Divinity Designs) for at least 10 years and thought it would make the perfect sunset scene after a day of fishing on the water. I stamped the image on a white panel in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then sponged Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight in the sky area using a mask for the sun.  I also added a little sun reflection in the water.  I colored the boat and the background with markers.  I also added a little white gel pen for the splash around the boat.  I die cut a frame with 2 Stitched Rectangle dies from Night of Navy, mounted it over the image panel and then to to a Crumb Cake card base.

Check out all the ways the team and our party guest were inspired by Colleen's sunset theme and join in the fun challenge over at Seize the Birthday.

I will also link to the Time Out Challenge - down to earth (option to use kraft)

Celebrating Your Special Day

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card to share today.  I made this for a little one at church who turned 3.

I blended green and blue DOI over the background.  After stamping the cute fox, turtle and banner from MFT Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored them with Copic markers and then die cut them.  I printed his name on the banner and cut one banner off and overlaid it so it would just have enough for his name.  The sentiment is from the same set.  I mounted all the images with foam tape and added a die cut number for his age.

I will link to Just Us Girls Photo Challenge Week as the fox and banner are elements in their photo.

Eek! It's Your Birthday for Color Throwdown

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card to share.  I made this for a little girl at church turning 4 yrs. old, I think she will like it.  I used the colors from the Color Throwdown Color Challenge - pink, aqua, and lavender.

I stamped and colored these cute mice from MFT It's a Mice Time to Celebrate set (sorry it has been discontinued, but they have another cute mice set) using the challenge colors, plus a light gray for the mice.  I fussy cut the images as I don't have the dies.  I added a strip of woodgrain paper to the bottom after I had sponged on some lt. pink ink for the background.  I added the mice with foam tape and stamped the 2 sentiments from the same set.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

A New Birthday Card for 3 Challenges

Hello friends.  I have a new birthday card to share today.  I made this card using the colors from the Just Us Girls Color Week.

I used an older frame die from Papertrey Ink that I have had for several years but never used.  I die cut it in SU Tempting Turquoise and then added a white panel stamped with the sentiment from JustRite Large Fancy Sentiments.  I then embossed it with SU Tasteful Textile EF (love the texture from this EF).  I used these new stamps and dies for the flowers from Pinkfresh Studio's It's a New Day Floral set.  I then colored the flower and bloom with SU Daffodil Delight  and and the leaves with Granny Apple Green blends.  I mounted them all with foam tape and my card was done.  I really like this color combination and my final card.

I will link to The Flower Challenge - Use a Shape (the scallop frame is a shape)

I will also link to the NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) blog.

Merry Christmas for the Color Hues

Hello friends.  I made another Christmas card for The Color Hues Challenge - Red & Kraft

I recently purchased this cute little reindeer at Michael's and thought he would be great colored in Crumb Cake (kraft) and red, so that was my starting point for this card.  I die cut him with an oval die and matted with a Crumb Cake scalloped oval.   I thought the oval could use a little extra and wasn't thinking when I added the tiny lt. blue snowflakes (hope that is o.k. for the color challenge)  The stripe paper is from my stash and I mounted it on a white panel embossed with The Paper Studio snowflake EF.  This is added to a Crumb Cake mat and then to the card base.  The sentiment from SU Snowman Season is stamped in Real Red and mounted with foam tape.  The image oval is also mounted with foam tape.

I will also link to the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge - Anything Goes  ( the colors in the first photo on the inspiration board - red & kraft, also )  This is a new challenge and this is their 2nd challenge.  I missed the first one.

Christmas Wishes for CAS Christmas Card Challenge

Hello friends.  This is my second post today.  I finally decided what I wanted to do with the red and gray colors at  CAS Christmas Card Challenge - Red & Gray,

ETA:  Yea, my card was one of the Top Picks at CAS Christmas.

I used SU Poinsettia Petals stamp and dies to die cut the pretty red poinsettia.  I shaped the petals and layered them together and added the pretty pearls to the center.  I didn't want to die cut gray leaves so I placed the poinsettia where I wanted it to see where to stamp the leaves in Smokey Slate on the Smokey Slate panel, for a subtle look.   I stamped the sentiment from SU Peaceful Poinsettia (retired) in Real Red on the panel and then embossed it with the Tasteful Textile EF (love the texture from this EF).  I glued the gray panel to the white card base and then added the poinsettia.  Then I decided to add the berry sprays from the same die set cut in white and I like the finished card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Two Thank You Cards

Hello friends.  I have two thank you cards to share today.

Sunday was Pastor Appreciation Day at our church and these are the two cards I made for our Pastor and Assistant Pastor

The first card is for our Pastor who has been with us for 7 years.  The pattern paper is from my stash and is matted with SU Early Espresso.  The white panel is embossed with SU Tasteful Textile EF and matted with Early Espresso.  Thank you is a Memory Box die which I cut from white and layered with Early Espresso.  It is mounted with foam tape on an oval die cut from matching blue cardstock.

This card is for our Assistant Pastor who is from out west and has lived on a ranch so thought this would be an appropriate card.  I used Frantic Stamper Western Cowboy and Desert Sunset dies cut from black and glued over a watercolor panel.   I traced the die over the panel so I would know where to add the color to match up and then glued the die cuts on.  I added foam tape to the top portion of the cowboy and cactus, then glued the bottom strip.  The sentiment is from an MFT set, die cut with a stitched banner die and mounted with foam tape.  The card base is SU Sahara Sand.

I will link to Dies R Us Challenge - Anything Goes.  I used Memory Box and Frantic Stamper dies.

Seize the Birthday - Use a Stencil

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time Cathy has chosen the "Topping" option to use a stencil.  Remember that you can just make it for a birthday if you choose not to use the "Topping" option.

I used Pretty Pink Posh Basket Weave stencil on my background.  I angled the stencil and lightly blended SU Smokey Slate ink over it.  I added a thin black mat to this panel.  The flowers from Gina K. Designs Whimsical Wildflowers were stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I mounted them with foam tape.  The sentiment from SU Happy Thoughts was die cut with a stitched oval die and mounted with foam tape.  I added small black beads to the centers of the flowers and 3 to top right corner.

I hope you will check out all the inspiration from the design team and join in our fun challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I will link to The Flower Challenge also as I used an oval shape for the sentiment.  So glad they have been around for 5 years as flower cards are my favorite to make.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Two More Anniversary Cards

Hello Friends.  I have two more anniversary cards for couples at church.  These are the last two for October.  My first card uses the pretty flower from Altenew Beautiful Day.  I used 3 shades of blue ink to stamp the flower and I colored the leaves with alcohol markers.  The white panel is embossed with Sizzix Tartan EF.  I added this to a Dapper Denim card base.  The sentiment from Just Rite Large Fancy Sentiments was stamped on a banner cut with a MFT Fishtail Flag die (shape for The Flower Challenge). I added 3 blue rhinestones for a touch of bling.  Congratulations to  The Flower Challenge  who is celebrating 5 years, so I had to play along as I love making floral cards.

My second card is another foiled card using Spellbinders glimmer  hot foil system.   I love the pretty designs and was inspired by a card I saw on the Spellbinders site using these glimmer hot foil  plates.  The sentiment is die cut from gold foil card stock with a die by Creative Expressions. I fussy cut around the floral image and adhered it to the white panel with the foiled diamond shapes.  This was mounted to a gold foil card stock mat and then to the card base.

Another Anniversary Card

Hello friends.  I have an anniversary card for another young couple at church.  I was playing with my new Glimmer Hot Foil system by Spellbinders and some new dies.  I was inspired by a card on the Spellbinders site to make this pretty card.

This is the card from the Spellbinder's site.

Diamonetta Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken

I copied it except I added some punched red foil hearts to the card.  I think the card is so pretty and I will be making more cards with the foiling plates.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Merry Christmas for FMS

Hello friends.  I have a Christmas card to share made with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I stamped the pretty poinsettia from SU Merriest Moments in Blushing Bride and the leaves in Mint Macaron.  I cut them with the matching dies and mounted with foam tape to a circle cut from Encircled in Friendship dies.  The 3 strips are Blushing Bride cardstock.  These were mounted to a panel embossed with Tasteful Textile EF and then to the card base.  The greeting is a stamp and die by Waffle Flower - Essential Sentiments - stamped in Mint Macaron.  I added a gold glitter gem to the center of the poinsettia.

I will also link to Jingle Bells Christmas card challenge (Thanks Bonnie)

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

A New Anniversary Card

Hello friends.  I am sharing an anniversary card made for a young couple at church that is celebrating their first anniversary this month.  I used the colors from Color Hues Challenge - Orange and Green, plus the neutrals of kraft and black.

ETA: Yes, my card was a runner up at the Color Hues Challenge.

The flower is from Altenew/Pinkfresh Studio Celebrate Us stamp & die set. It is a layered stamp set and I used Pumpkin Pie ink, stamped off once for the lighter shade and full strength for the darker shade.  I colored the leaves with alcohol markers.  After die cutting the image, I trimmed a little of the white border off, added Wink of Stella to the flower, and mounted it with foam tape.  The green dotted paper is from my stash and I used black mats on it and the embossed kraft panel.(Tasteful Textile EF).

This photo shows the pretty shine from the Wink of Stella pen.

The sentiment is from an older JustRite Large Fancy Sentiments (not sure if it is still available).  I fussy cut it and added it with foam tape also.

I will also link to Watercooler Wednesday - All About Occasions.

Happy Birthday for Watercooler Wednesday

Hello friends.  I have a birthday card for the challenge at Watercooler Wednesday - All About Occasions.

I used SU Floral Essence for my flowers and leaves.  I stamped the flower twice for each flower with Polished Pink ink and then colored them with Lt. Polished Pink Blend.  I punched them with the coordinating punch, and layered them together, adding a black enamel dot to the centers.  The leaves were stamped in Granny Apply Green and punched with the leaf punch.  The sentiment from SU Happy Thoughts was stamped in black on a Nested Label die cut and matted with a black Nested Label die cut.  The pattern paper is from my stash and has a thin black mat.  The flowers were mounted with foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Birthday Card for A Couple of Challenges

Hello friends.  I just found this sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #439 and wanted to play along.

I used the colors from the current Color Hues Color Challenge - Orange and Green.

I like the sketch but it was hard not to add more layers.   I used the flower from SU Nature's Harvest, colored it with alcohol markers, die cut it with a die from SU Harvest Dies and mounted it with foam tape..  The paper is from some older SU pads and the sentiment is from SU Peaceful Moments.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate it when you take time to leave comments.
Have a wonderful day.
