Seize the Birthday - Use a Stencil

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time Cathy has chosen the "Topping" option to use a stencil.  Remember that you can just make it for a birthday if you choose not to use the "Topping" option.

I used Pretty Pink Posh Basket Weave stencil on my background.  I angled the stencil and lightly blended SU Smokey Slate ink over it.  I added a thin black mat to this panel.  The flowers from Gina K. Designs Whimsical Wildflowers were stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I mounted them with foam tape.  The sentiment from SU Happy Thoughts was die cut with a stitched oval die and mounted with foam tape.  I added small black beads to the centers of the flowers and 3 to top right corner.

I hope you will check out all the inspiration from the design team and join in our fun challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I will link to The Flower Challenge also as I used an oval shape for the sentiment.  So glad they have been around for 5 years as flower cards are my favorite to make.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn

  3. Love your subtle stencilling! Even if I mean to stencil lightly, I'm often surprised when I lift the stencil and discover I've gone more intense than I meant to. This is perfect for the pretty pop of flowers!

  4. I am loving the look of a subtle stencil for backgrounds. When I look at a card I make that is just all white I sometimes feel like it needs a little something more, and stencils sure do fill the bill!! Lovely card and beautiful coloring as always JoAnn!

Your card is so pretty, love the colors and great job with keeping the basket weave so subtle not in your face competing with the image...I had to click on it before I even saw the basket weave and it is just right! Thanks for visiting me from time to time...it reminds me to visit you and I am never disappointed! not off to Seize the Birthday and get some ideas there!
