Merry Monday #154 - Vintage Style Christmas Card

The Merry Monday challenge this week is to create a vintage style Christmas card.  I searched on line for some vintage Christmas images and found this one which had a frame around it.  I printed it and cut the image out without the frame and matted it to a Spellbinders Scalloped Oval cut from SU Always Artichoke.  The card base is also Always Artichoke.  The DSP is from Simple Stories Handmade Holiday 6x6 pad.  I cut the sentiment from one of the pages and matted it with SU Basic Black.  The image and sentiment are mounted with foam tape.   I think it made a quick and simple vintage style Christmas card - and no stamping either. :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Seize the Birthday - Tags

Hello all my stamping friends, it is Thursday and time for a new Seize the Birthday challenge.  This week our "toppings" option is to use a tag on your card.  Here is my card:
My card base and tag base is SU Coastal Cabana, and the mats are SU Whisper White.  The DSP is from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.  The butterflies and flower from Verve's Petals and Stem (replaced with Petals and Wings) are stamped in Momemto Tuxedo Black ink on some of the DSP.  The stem for the flower is stamped in SU Pear Pizzazz.  The flower and tag are mounted with foam dimensionals.  I glued the center of the butterflies down and lifted the wings up.  I added a button to the center of the flower and some white Baker's Twine to the tag.  The sentiment is from a set from TPC Studio "Card Crafting Happy Birthday".  I cut the tag with MFT Pierced Tags Die-namics in White and Coastal Cabana and trimmed the white one a little to fit inside the blue mat.

I am also entering my card in The Paper Players #196 - "Clean and Simple Floral". I used floral paper and stamped a flower.

Now hop over to the Seize the Birthday blog and check out all the fabulous cards by my fellow Design Team members.  I'm sure you will be inspired to play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christ The Savior Is Born

I am playing along with Merry Monday #86 challenge over on Lesley's blog Always Playing With Paper.  The challenge is to use the "chalkboard technique" on your Christmas card.  For my card layout I used an older Deconstructed Sketch #105.

DS105
My card base is Whisper White, the mats are all Basic Black and the DSP is from Simple Stories December Documented 6x6 pad.  I stamped the sentiment and frame from Verve's Unto Us in Whisper White Craft ink on some Tim Holtz chalboard like paper and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I used Verve's Classy Label die to cut it out.  The holly leaves are a MS punch and I punched separate berries from Cherry Cobbler CS.  The frame and holly leaves are mounted with foam dimensionals.  The border is done with SU Scallop Trim border punch. I added a Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon and my card was done.
I am going to link this to Verve's December Diva Dare as it has some of my favorite new Verve stamps:  Unto Us and the Classy Label Die
Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.

Seize The Birthday Challenge - Anything Goes

Happy Thursday my stamping friends.  This is my second post as a member of the new Design Team at Seize the Birthday and it is time for a new challenge.  Check it out HERE and join in the fun.   It is an "Anything Goes" challenge as long as it is a birthday project.  Need a sketch to get started then visit our sister challenge at Seize The Sketch and link up to both challenges.  We look forward to seeing your creations.

I am using the current sketch from Seize The Sketch #2 for my card.

I tried a technique I have seen quite a lot lately and wanted to give it a try.  It is called Starburst and Dawn Olchefske has a video tutorial on her blog here.  I used paper from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss 6x6 pad for my starburst, Canvas Corp Heavy White Cardstock, and SU Regal Rose and Baha Breeze CS.  I used the SU Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch for the the Baha Breeze strip. The sentiment is from SU Perfectly Penned stamped in Basic Gray ink.  I hand cut the little banner at top and added a pink heart button from my stash.  That's it for my card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn
