Hello friends. It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and our host, Nancy, has chosen Butterflies or Hummingbirds for our "Topping" option.
I used a retired SU set Humming Along for the images and sentiment. I had never used the hummingbird before as it is large but thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I already had the flower colored and cut out so stamped, colored and fussy cut him. The white panel is embossed with SU Dainty Diamonds EF and matted with green. I also sponged some lt. blue ink where the bird and flower would go. I cut the flower stem and rearranged it so it didn't curve so much, then mounted the flower with foam tape and glued the stem and leaf down. The bird and sentiment are also mounted with foam tape. The sentiment is die cut with a Stitched Rectangle die.
We have lots of butterfly and hummingbird cards to inspire you over at Seize the Birthday. I hope to see you in our gallery.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.
I thought for sure you were going to be Team butterfly...LOL. You surprised me with this hummingbird! Love the soft color on your EF too! Great card! Enjoy your Saturday!
ReplyDeleteGood to see this hummingbird amoung all of the butterflies. Amazing that you have not used him before. He makes for an elegant card with just one flower.
ReplyDeleteYou've given your little hummingbird a lovely flower to feast on, JoAnn! It looks very much like the view from my window! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty hibiscus and hummingbird, JoAnn! I love the color on the embossed background too!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE hummingbirds! I have so many old SU sets, I can't believe I don't that one. The beautiful images pop beautifully on the embossed white background!
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, I went with hummingbirds as well, mainly because I thought everyone would use a butterfly! I do love butterflies too though! Your hummer with the one flower is so very pretty and with the added texture from your background it makes a wonderful card!
ReplyDeleteI love the larger size!!! Very pretty, especially on your textured background.
ReplyDeleteSweet card with the sweet humming bird and the lovely hibiscus. Couldn't get a better spring birthday card - so lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card Joann, I had no choice but butterflies as I don't think I have any hummingbirds! Yours is a beauty and I love the embossed background, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThe larger size works perfectly with the larger flower, JoAnn. Love the textured background. I’m another one with no hummingbird stamps so I went for butterflies!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty JoAnn! I I love the colour combo you used and the background is perfect.
