Happiest of Birthdays To You - NBUS Challenge #8

I made a card for Darnell's new NBUS Challenge #8 (Never Before Used Schtuff) using my MFT Wonky Rectangle Stax (NBUS) that I was anxious to use.  Her theme is to Use Colored Pencils on Kraft.
I stamped the image and sentiment with SU Birthday Blooms in Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  First I colored the image with a white pencil and then with the 2 different  red and 2 different green pencils to get some shading.  I also used a dark yellow pencil for the center of the flower.  I then cut the kraft panel out with the MFT Wonky Rectangle die (NBUS).  I mounted this panel with foam tape to the white card base.  I have only used this technique one time before and that was a long time ago.  I wasn't happy with it them, but I really like how this turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn

  2. Saw you over at Darnell's and had to get a closer look!! I LOVE the white embossing!! I am a novice colorist and so I appreciate the tip of coloring with a white pencil first and blending the other colors over the top. What a velvety, rich effect. Such a beautiful card in every way. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful weekend!

  4. I can't believe you only tried cp/k one time before, JoAnn! You have colored this like a pro! I'll have to try your tip of laying down a white pencil before the color, so thank you for that and thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #8! Hugs, Darnell
