Seize The Birthday

It is Thursday and you know what that means, it is time for another Seize the Birthday challenge.  There is no "toppings" option this week, so just make your "Anything Goes" birthday project and link it up. Can't wait to see what you create.

For my card base and sentiment panel I used SU Naturals White CS.  All the mats are SU Soft Suede and the DSP is Spice Cake (retired).  I used Verve's Starry Die  and SU Small Star Punch (retired) to cut the stars from Soft Suede and Baha Breeze CS, and layer them.  The sentiment is SU Beautiful Birthday stamped in Soft Suede ink cut with a Spellbinder's Classic Oval and layered with a Scallop Oval. I sponged some Crumb Cake ink around the edges while it was still in the die. These are adhered with foam dimensionals. The largest star is also adhered with a dimensional.

My card is based on Jen's Deconstructed Sketch #137

Wish Big

Happy Thursday blogging friends.  It is time for a new Seize the Birthday challenge and this week we have a "Toppings" option to include hearts on your birthday project.  Remember it is only an option, you can always skip the option and just make a regular birthday project. I hope you can join us for this challenge.  Looking forward to seeing your creations.
Here's my card:
For my card I used the sketch from our sister challenge Seize the Sketch #13, but rotated it to fit my image.
See the panel my image is mounted on, well I tried a new technique for the current JUGS #227 challenge - inked die-cuts.
There is a video for this technique - Inked Die Cuts by Becca at Amazing Paper Grace. Follow the link for her tutorial.  I used Spellbinders Label 8 die and VersaMagic Pixie Dust Chalk Ink (which matches the Pink Pirouette CS I used).  This was my first time trying this technique and I really like how it turned out.  There are a few very tiny spots that didn't quite get ink, but they aren't that noticeable.
I found these glittered dimensional heart stickers by Momenta on a recent shopping trip and thought they would be perfect for the Seize the Birthday "Toppings" option.  I added them to the balloons and also in the bottom right corner of the die-cut panel.  The paper for the die-cut panel is from MME Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing. The other DSP is from MME Love Me pad.  The card base is MFT Smooth White CS and the mats are SU Pink Piroutte CS.  The little scallop circle is from MFT Blueprints 6 die-namics.  The scallop borders were made with the SU Scallop Border punch.
The sweet image is MFT ala Modes Big Birthday Wishes.  I stamped her on X-Press It Blending Card and colored her with Copics, then fussy cut her out.  She is mounted with foam dimensionals.  The balloons are paper-pieced with DSP.

Now hop on over to the Seize the Birthday blog and see what wonderful creations my fellow Design Team members have created to inspire you.

Happy Holidays for Merry Monday #95 & DS137

The Merry Monday Challenge this week is to use an animal on your Christmas card and the Deconstructed Sketch #137 has lots of layers, which I like. :)

DS137 by the Deconstructed Sketch
The white photographed a little wonky and I took several photos trying to get it right, but this is the best I could do.  I paper-pieced the cute penguin from Cottage Cutz Jolly Penguin die (I love it!). I added a little gray shading around the white parts.  He is mounted with foam dimensionals on circles cut with MFT Circle Stax 1 and 2.  The sentiment is from a retired SU set called Riveting, stamped in SU Garden Green ink. I used 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" circle punches for the sentiment pieces.  I hand-cut the small banners.  All the DSP is from Pebbles Welcome Christmas 6x6 pad. The mats are SU Basic Black and the card base is MFT Smooth White CS.

The sentiment is from SU Christmas Lodge - I just trimmed it down and matted it with Real Red CS.  The stockings are from SU Stitched Stockings stamped in Old Olive, Real Red and Marina Mist.  I added some linen thread for the the loops and hung them on gold brads. I also added foam dimensionals to hold them in place.

Dynamic Duos #89 - Subtly Yours Week

Good Saturday Morning my stamping friends. It is time for a new Dynamic Duos challenge and it is "Subtly Yours" week with the colors Pistachio Pudding and Blushing Bride.

Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card and these soft colors were perfect for the occasion.  My card base is Pistachio Pudding, then a mat of Whisper White and a panel of Blushing Bride DSP.  I used the SU Framelits Labels Collection for the main panel, stamped the En Francis background in Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut the Crumb Cake Mat.  The flower is from my new Sizzix/Hero Arts Stamp & Die set. I inked the flower in Blushing Bride and the stem in Pistachio Pudding, stamped it on Whisper White CS and then die cut it with the matching framelit die.  It is mounted with foam dimensionals.  The sentiment from Verve's New Mercies is stamped in Crumb Cake ink and punched with SU Large Oval punch. I sponged some ink around the edges and mounted it with foam dimensionals.

Anniversary Wishes for Viva la Verve January Wk 5

This is my card for Week 5 of the Viva la Verve January 2014 sketches.  I am so glad I was able to complete all five sketches this month. I substitued the flower for the small rectangle element.
The card base is MFT Smooth White CS.  The mats and vertical strip are SU Basic Black. I used SU Square Lattice EF on the strip.  The DSP is from the Recollections Valentine 6x6 pad.  I love these papers and have made several cards with it recently.  The flower is from Verve's Elegant Flower single stamp and Grateful Elegance stamp set, stamped in SU Basic Gray ink on some American Craft DSP which matched the other papers.  The leaves are from SU Bird Builder punch. I added a black brad to the flower center and each layer has a foam dimensional.  The sentiment is from Verve's Wishful Elegance set stamped in Basic Gray ink and fussy cut to match the black mat cut with Verve's Curvy Bookplate die.  I added some black rhinestones beneath the sentiment and mounted it with foam dimensionals.

Another Christmas Card

I love making Christmas cards all year long and am glad there are challenges to inspire me on.  My card today is for Merry Monday #93 - use an ornament(s) on your Christmas card and for Christmas Cards All Year Round - only use Blue & White.

Christmas Cards All Year Round

ETA:  My card was a top pick at Christmas Cards All Year Round
Christmas Cards All Year Round
I used Image Plus White CS and SU Marina Mist CS.  The ornament is an Inkadinkado "Brenda Walton" stamp.  I stamped it in Versamark ink on Marina Mist CS and used white embossing powder (it has a yellowish tint in the photo but is white IRL). I fussy cut it out and mounted it to a panel embossed with the SU Snowburst EF.  I used a Spellbinder's Fancy Tag die for the sentiment, which is from Verve's Peace On Earth (correction).  The scalloped border is made with MFT Simply Scallops Medium Border die. That's it for my card.

Happy Birthday for the Dynamic Duos

Happy Saturday crafty friends.  Today we have a new color challenge at the Dynamic Duos.  It is "Bold & Cheery" week and the colors are Real Red and Island Indigo.
For my card I used 4 different SU stamp sets:  Gorgeous Grunge (background with Island Indigo ink on Whisper White CS); Morning Meadow (flowers in Real Red ink); Everything Eleanor (Island Indigo Apothecary accent, fussy cut) and Bring on the Cake (sentiment in Island Indigo).  I cut the sentiment out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits, added some pen-stiching with my Island Indigo marker and mounted it with foam dimensionals to the accent piece, and this was mounted with dimensionals also.  I used the matching Pansy punch to punch out my flowers, shaped the petals, added a pearl to the centers and mounted them with foam dimensionals.  I swiped my Island Indigo ink pad across some Whisper White CS several times to make the paper for my leaves, and punched them with the Bird Builder punch.  I used a Basic Black mat and the card base is Real Red.

I hope you can play along with this week's challenge.  Now hop on over to the Dynamic Duos blog and check out what my fellow Design Team members have created to inspire you.

Our challenge ends on Thursdays at noon (PST).
