Merry Christmas for Merry Monday #81

This week's Merry Monday #81 challenge is to use a Santa on your Christmas card.  I downloaded this cute Santa image from Whimsy and Stars Studio Etsy shop.

I printed the image on X-Press It Blending Card and colored him with Copics and Promarkers. I cut him out with Spellbinders Classic Ovals and inked around the edges with SU Crumb Cake ink while it was still in the die.  I also added some white Fun Flock (I have had for ages) to the little pom pom on the end of his hat, and added Crystal Effects to his glasses.  I matted him on a Spellbinders Scallop Oval cut from SU Real Red CS.  I cut the Spellbinders Fancy Tag from Real Red CS.  I traced around the inside opening to cut out the white part for my sentiment, which is from MFT's Christmas Ornaments set. The Santa image and sentiment are mounted with foam tape.  The DSP is from DCWV Christmas Mat Stack from last year. The mat is Real Red CS and the card base is MFT Smooth White CS.

Happy Birthday To You

Today's card is for my grandson that will be turning 18 next month.  He is a senior in high school and I am very proud of the young man he is.
For my card I used the Viva la Verve Oct. 2013 Wk 1 sketch.
My card base is SU Crumb Cake CS and the mats are Choc. Chip CS.  Card size is 5-1/2" square.  The DSP is from My Mind's Eye Twinkle Twinkle Little Boy. The paper has some shiny parts and I think you can see a little of it in the photo.  The sentiment is from Verve's Birthday to You.  I used MFT's Pierced Circle Stax and Circle Stax Die-namics and mounted it with foam tape.  The stars are cut with Verve's Starry Die and are also mounted with foam tape.

Christmas Greetings

I decided to make a Christmas card with the Viva La Verve Oct 2013 Week 4 sketch.   I used SU Whisper White and Early Espresso CS.  The DSP is from Echo Park's Very Merry Christmas 6x6 pad.  I cut the banners and mats with MFT's Fishtail Flags Stax and Fishtail Flags Layers Stax Die-namics.  I stamped the scalloped frame from Verve's Sweet On You in SU Always Artichoke ink and the greeting from Verve's Bright Spirits in SU Cherry Cobbler ink and then cut it out by hand, and mounted it with foam tape.  The ribbon is SU Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.

May God Bless You

Today I have a card I made for our Pastor's wife.  She is a sweetheart and I wanted to let her know we appreciate her.  For my card I used the Dynamic Duos color challenge and the Viva la Verve October Week 5 sketch.

VLVOct13Week5Sketch
The card base is Wisteria Wonder CS. The mats are Perfect Plum and the DSP is from SU Flirtatious DSP (retired).  The Whisper White panel is embossed with the SU Lacey Brocade EF.  The sentiment is from Verve's Wonderfully Made, stamped in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink.  I used MFT Pierced Circle Stax and Circle Stax Die-namics to cut the circles out.  I sponged Wisteria Wonder ink around the sentiment before taking it out of the die, and mounted it with foam dimensionals.  The flowers from Verve's One Person is stamped in Perfect Plum on Whisper White CS.  I sponged some Wisteria Wonder ink over them, cut them out and added purple rhinestones to the centers.  They are mounted on foam dimensionals.

Best of the West for The Paper Players

This card is for my grown grandson who loves anything cowboy. He has done some ranch work in the past and is always wearing his cowboy boots and hat.  I know he will love it.  I am playing along with The Paper Players #168 to make a clean and simple masculine birthday card.

The image and sentiment are from My Favorite Things - Inspired by the Wild Wild West and stamped in SU Not Quite Navy ink.  I used 1" and 1-1/4" punches for the sentiment and mounted it with foam tape.  I used MFT Smooth White CS and the DSP is some older Hot Off The Press papers from my stash.  The denim paper is perfect for my card as my grandson is always wearing jeans.
That's it for my CAS card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

New Seize The Birthday Challenge

Happy Thursday morning everyone.  It is time for a new Seize The Birthday challenge so hop on over and join the party.  My fellow Design Team members have created some wonderful creations to share with you and anything goes as long as it is for a birthday. Here's my card.

For my card I used last week's Mojo Monday sketch #315, turned sideways, and this week's Just Us Girls 211 color challenge.  I love blue and brown together and this retired SU Parisian Breeze DSP was a perfect choice.  I love the texture in the paper also.  The card base and flag banner is SU Baha Breeze CS and the mats are SU Choc. Chip.  The sentiment is a retired SU stamp - I just love that swirly font - stamped in Choc. Chip ink and cut with Spellbinders Classic and Scallop Rectangles.  I inked around the sentiment with Baha Breeze ink and also pierced the border.  The flower is from Verve's Sunny Days and is stamped in Choc. Chip ink on some of the DSP.  There are 2 layers with a foam dimensional between the layers.  I also inked the edges of the flower with Baha Breeze ink and added a pearl brad.  The Baha Breeze banner is cut with Verve's Pennant Trim die. The leaves are from Spellbinders Our Daily Bread Designs Fancy Foilage die.

Thanks for stopping by.  I really appreciate your comments.

I inked the edges with Soft Suede ink and layered them. I cut a small Choc. Chip CS stem and the vine is Old Olive CS cut with the Spellbinders Our Daily Bread Fancy Foliage die.  The sentiment is from SU Holiday Best (retired), colored with markers and them stamped on Smooth White CS and cut out with Spellbinders Classic Ovals and mounted on a Scalloped Oval diecut.   The sentiment panel and the pumpkin are mounted with foam tape.

Peace for MFTWSC156 and Merry Monday #80

MFTWSC146
I am having fun getting my Christmas cards done early.  This is another one I made using the sketch from My Favorite Things MFTWSC146 and the Merry Monday #80 Challenge - Use music or a Carol inspired theme.  I stamped this cute MFT PI Angel image with Tuxedo Mememto Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card, colored her with Copics and cut her out.  Her halo is stamped separate, cut out by hand and glued to her head. (That is a job cutting that tiny halo out, but I like how it turned out.)  I paper-pieced her dress with DSP from Authentic Joyus Collection 6x6 pad.  The music and green DSP is from Echo Park Very Merry Christmas 6x6 pad.  I used MFT Upsy Daisy die-namic and MFT Electric Red CS to make the flower and added a yellow rhinstone to the center.  The sentiment is from MFT LJD-Stitched Stockings and cut out with MFT Fishtail Flags Stax.  The mats are SU Basic Black and the card base is Canvas Corp White Heavy Card.  The angel and the flower are mounted with foam tape.

Let It Snow

This is my card for Merry Monday #79 - Snowflakes, Blue, White and Silver/Gray.  I used Seize The Sketch #6 for my card.  I really like this sketch and will be using it again.
I used SU Bermuda Bay and Whisper White CS and the DSP is from The Paper Studio Merry Merry pad (from Hobby Lobby).   I punched the MS Himalayan Snowflake from Silver Glitter paper from Michael's, added a silver brad to the center and attached it to my sentiment panel.  The sentiment is from a very old Close To My Heart stamp set. I stamped it in SU Going Gray ink and went over the little snow dots with a clear glitter pen. It doesn't show up in the photo but it is very sparkly IRL.  I paper-pierced around the edges and mounted the panel with foam tape.
Another Christmas card done to add to my stash.

Merry Christmas - Sunshine and Laughter

I have two cards to share with you today and am combining serveral challenges.  My first card uses the Viva la Verve Oct. Wk 3 sketch and is for Christmas Stampin All Year Long - Keep it simple Christmas - no embellies.  It was hard not to add an embellie to the center of my poinsettias. :)
For my card, I used SU Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler CS and the DSP is from the retired Holly Jolly pack. I used the SU Scallop Trim Border punch for the border. The poinsettias are stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and the outline is stamped with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink, as is the sentiment.  These are from Verve's Poinsettia Christmas set. I punched them out with a SU 1-3/4" punch and mounted them with foam tape.  A simple but pretty Christmas Card.

My second card is for a friend who needs some cheering up.  I used the Viva la Verve Oct. Wk 2 sketch and the Dynamic Duos Color challenge.  I used two Verve stamp sets One Person for the flower and Brighter Days for the sentiment.  I stamped the flowers with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink on Calypso Coral DSP and cut them out and layered them with foam tape.  The leaves are stamped on Crumb Cake CS and cut out to add behind the flower. I stamped the sentiment with Mememto ink and cut it out with a Spellbinders Classic Oval die and sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges while it was still in the die.  I handcut the black mat.  I rounded the two corners of the Calypso Coral DSP with an EK Success Corner Rounder.  The bottom border is cut with Verve's Award Banner Trim Die.  I added yellow rhinstones to the cutout circles and to the center of the flower. The DSP is from SU Tea For Two pack.  I used SU Whisper White, Basic Black and Crumb Cake CS.

Happy Day for MFT 145

MFTWSC145
This is my card for MFTWSC145.  I have had company from Texas and almost didn't get it done in time to post it.
I used MFT Smooth White and Natural CS for my card. The DSP is from Fancy Pants Park Bench 6x6 pad.  I stamped the image from MFT ala Mode Time to Celebrate on X-Press It Blending Card with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and colored her skin, hair & shoes with Copics. I colored the icing with a Promarker and paper-pieced her pants from the DSP.  I used MFT Pierced Rectangle Stax Die-namics to cut out the panels and matted them with Natural CS.  I sponged SU Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the image panel, stamped the sentiment with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and mounted her with foam tape.

Merry Christmas (2nd post today)

I actually got two Christmas cards done today. This is the second one using the sketch from Fusion Card Challenge #19, I didn't use any pink, I just went with the sketch.  It also meets the Merry Monday #78 challenge since it has a bird on it.

I used SU Whisper White, Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler CS.  The striped and green DSP is from an older Me And My Big Ideas Christmas stack.  I used Spellbinders Lacey Squares to cut the green and red squares and adhered them both with foam tape between the layers.  I hand-cut the banners from white and red CS.  The vertical Cherry Cobbler strip is embossed with the SU Petals A Plenty EF.  The image is from an old SU set Holiday Best.  I stamped it once in Cherry Cobbler ink and again in Always Artichoke ink.  I then cut that tiny cardinal and the Merry Christmas out of the red one and glued it onto the green image.  This was punched with SU Extra Large Oval punch and glued to the Cherry Cobbler Lacey Square.  That's it for my card.

Peace on Earth for Merry Monday #78

My card is for this week's Merry Monday #78 challenge - to use a bird on your Christmas card.

For my card I used SU Peaceful Season (retired).  I used Versamark ink to stamp the dove on blue cardstock, embossed with white embossing powder and cut it out.  I also embossed the sentiment and earth ornament (from the same set) on a piece of Baha Breeze DSP from a retired pad.  I cut the Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight frame out twice and glued together to make it sturdier as I mounted it with foam tape for dimension.  The dove is also mounted with foam tape. I then added a mat of Whisper White CS and adhered to the Baha Breeze card base.

Seize the Birthday - Celebrate Your Special Day

Woo hoo, it's Thursday and time for another Seize The Birthday challenge for you. Linky badge

So this week your "Toppings" option is

to use Autumn colors.

If your not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
The choice is yours!
Be sure to stop by the Seize the Birthday blog to see what the other designers have in store for you, and join in the party by linking up your own birthday creations.

I chose the "Toppings" option and used Autumn colors for my card.  Here it is:

I am also using the sketch challenge at Just Us GirlsETA:  Woohoo, my card won Chic of the Week at Just Us Girls.

I used SU cardstock - Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake (kraft).  The DSP is from the Mirabelle paper pad by The Paper Studio (from Hobby Lobby). I love the colors in this paper.  I stamped my flowers from SU Flower Shop in SU Really Rust ink, punched them out with the coordinating Pansy Punch and then inked the edges with more Really Rust ink. (The photo does not show the true color as they are not that dark or bright, they match the paper better IRL).  I shaped the petals with my stylus, and mounted them with foam dimensionals.   I added a Crumb Cake MFT Leaf Filled Flourish under the flowers. The sentiment is from MFT LJD-Birthday Greetings, stamped in SU Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla CS and punched with SU Decorative Label punch. To make the mat, I punched 2 labels in Crumb Cake CS and cut one in half the long way, and the other one in half the short way. I trimmed the end points off the two long pieces and matted them on the back of my sentiment (photo #1) and then I trimmed the two short pieces  to layer over the others (photo #2).  I hope these photos help you understand how I used the punch to make a mat. This is mounted with foam dimensionals also.

Happy World Card Making Day

I hope you had a chance to get inky today and create some pretties.  My friend came over for awhile and we made a couple of cards.  I created a Christmas card for the Merry Monday #77 color challenge.
Here's my card.
I stamped the cute image from Penny Black's Mimi's Christmas on X-Press It Blending Card  with Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with Copics and Promarkers.  The DSP is from My Mind's Eye Merry little Christmas and it has all the colors for the challenge - red, pink, light and dark green, and white.  I matted it with SU Garden Green CS. I also added a layer of pink paper from my stash.  The sentiment is from MFT's Chirstmas Ornaments set, and is stamped in Garden Green ink.  I hand cut the ends of the banner.

I am also linking my card to Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - always anything Christmas;  and Weekly Christmas Card Challenges - anything goes.
